BOMBANANA! Troubleshooting and Known Issues

Most BOMBANANA! problems so far have been about voice chat, crashes and finding a full team. Here’s what the official patches changed and what to try. Make sure the game is updated first: Steam installs patches automatically when you restart it.

Voice chat: can’t hear or speak

Patch v1.0.1 (September 3, 2026) fixed a bug where some players couldn’t hear or speak in voice chat, and v1.0.2 adjusted the sound and voice systems again. If it still happens:

1. Restart Steam so the latest patch installs.
2. In Windows or macOS sound settings, check the game is using the microphone and headset you expect.
3. Check the game’s in-game voice settings.
4. Remember the roles: the Deaf Monkey can’t hear teammates by design, and the Mute Monkey can’t speak. That’s the game, not a bug. See roles.

Crackling or distorted voice

Fixed in v1.0.1. Update the game and restart it.

Random crashes

The developer listed random crashes as a known issue in v1.0.1 and said they were investigating. If you still crash on the latest version, report it in the official Discord with your system specs, and check you meet the system requirements.

Controller buttons not showing

Fixed in v1.0.2 (September 10, 2026): the controller UI didn’t appear when playing with a controller.

Can’t find two other players

Every match needs three people. Since v1.0.2 you can use matchmaking, and the global lobby browser lists public games. The official Discord is also full of players looking for a trio.

Streaming without leaking your lobby code

v1.0.2 added a button to hide or reveal the lobby code, so you can stream without uninvited monkeys joining.
