Roles: Blind, Mute and Deaf Monkey
Every BOMBANANA! team has exactly three players, and each takes one role. No role has the full picture, which is the whole point of the game.
| Role | Can | Can’t |
|---|---|---|
| Blind Monkey | Touch and operate the bomb | See colors or read screens |
| Mute Monkey | Read the bomb disposal manual | Speak |
| Deaf Monkey | See the bomb and teammates’ gestures | Hear |
How information flows
Section titled “How information flows”- The Deaf Monkey looks at the bomb and describes what is on it.
- The Mute Monkey finds the matching rule in the manual, but has to get the answer across without talking, using gestures and emotes.
- The Blind Monkey is the one with hands on the bomb, so the instructions must reach them in a form they can act on.
Because the Mute Monkey can’t talk and the Deaf Monkey can’t hear, the team has to build a relay: who talks to whom, and how. Agreeing on that relay before the first bomb is the single biggest improvement most new teams can make. See the Beginner’s Guide for a first-session plan.
Tools for communicating
Section titled “Tools for communicating”- Voice chat for the players who can use it
- Emotes and the emote wheel, which are the Mute Monkey’s main voice
- Gestures, which the Deaf Monkey can watch
