BOMBANANA! Beginner's Guide
New to BOMBANANA!? This page gets a fresh team from the lobby to its first defused bomb.
1. Get three players
Section titled “1. Get three players”BOMBANANA! needs exactly three players, online. There is no solo mode and no AI teammate. Each player needs their own copy on Steam. If you are short a player, use matchmaking (added in v1.0.2) or the global lobby browser to find others.
2. Pick roles on purpose
Section titled “2. Pick roles on purpose”Read the roles page together first. A good default:
- Give the Mute Monkey to the player who reads fastest and is most expressive with emotes.
- Give the Blind Monkey to the calmest player, since they make the final moves under pressure.
- Give the Deaf Monkey to the player who describes things most precisely.
Rotate roles after a few levels so everyone learns every seat.
3. Agree on a relay before the timer starts
Section titled “3. Agree on a relay before the timer starts”Decide who talks to whom. The Mute Monkey can’t speak and the Deaf Monkey can’t hear, so spell out how an answer travels from the manual to the Blind Monkey’s hands. Keep your words short and consistent: the same name for the same thing, every time.
4. Start with the Campaign
Section titled “4. Start with the Campaign”The Campaign has 30 handcrafted levels that ramp up in difficulty and unlock as you progress. Learn there before trying Endless or tuning a Custom game.
5. Common first-session mistakes
Section titled “5. Common first-session mistakes”- Guessing. A wrong answer delivered confidently costs more than ten seconds of checking.
- Everyone talking at once. Pick one speaker per step.
- Changing words mid-bomb. If you called it “the yellow one” before, don’t switch names now.
- Ignoring hazards. Later levels add hazards like power outages and obstructions. Plan for them.
Accessibility
Section titled “Accessibility”BOMBANANA! includes a color blind mode and controller support.
